Network Engineers, Access work with Network Managers across multiple departments to provide and maintain highly specialized information technology solutions. In a senior level position, they serve as liaison between end users and Network resources.

 

Elicit, analyze and document the business needs of project stakeholders in developing detailed business requirements for new and existing systems and/or network elements. Use communication, analytical and problem-solving skills during the system development life cycle to maximize the benefit of Network systems and company resources.

A relentless obsession to be the best in our industryA winner mentality determined to outsmart and outdo competitorsA single-minded commitment to unbeatable customer experiencesAn unapologetic passion for innovation and technologyAn uncompromising drive toward continuous improvementA steadfast devotion to doing the right thing the right wayA deep-seated dedication to accountability and ownership Responsibilities Works closely and effectively with various departments including, but not limited to, Broadband Field Services, the Network Operations Control Center (NOCC), the Consumer Call Center, and FTTx Technicians in order to develop and maintain IPTV infrastructure with a keen focus on network integrity and network survivability.Accurately prepares time lines and costs for FTTx/OLT network expansion projects to include capacity mitigation.Accurately maintains PON combining plans for all OLT/FTTx servicing elements.Timely creates and maintains Visio diagrams/drawings of the FTTx/OLT Network Infrastructure and any associated elements. Timely creates and maintains detailed Methods of Procedure (MOP) documents useful to both the NOCC and other Operational Departments for the implementation, development and maintenance of the FTTx/OLT environment.Consistently verifies that records are correct and up to date at all times.Schedules Network Activity requests/Maintenance Requests (MR) with the acting Broadband Network NOCC Supervisor or Manager. Aids in the testing and turning up of equipment and network architecture. Facilitates and responsibly manages projects with authorized contractors.Develops and maintains effective communications and working relationships and appropriately trains personnel and shares information with other departments to ensure cross functional transfer of knowledge Company-wide.Remains available for network repairs, installations, and potentially unforeseen or unplanned circumstances on a 24x7 basis when requested.Able to work successfully in a team based, high-performance culture.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Network Engineer I, AccessREQUIREDA four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent experience requiredWorking knowledge of Layer 2 is requiredExcellent computer skills required, with emphasis in Windows, Excel, and Word is requiredPREFERREDCCNA is preferredKnowledge of Multicast performance and best practices is strongly preferredEntry-level knowledge of network access technologies is preferredNetwork Engineer II, AccessREQUIREDA four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent experience requiredAdvanced applicable knowledge of common network technologies at OSI Layer 2 requiredCCNA level certification requiredAdvanced knowledge of network access technologies such as xDSL or DOCSIS requiredStrong oral and written communication skills requiredBackground must demonstrate the ability to operate within a complex, dynamic environmentPREFERREDApplicable entry-level knowledge of network technologies at OSI Layer 3 preferredEntry-level knowledge of PON preferredNetwork Engineer III, AccessREQUIREDA four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent experience requiredAdvanced applicable knowledge of common network technologies at OSI Layer 3 requiredCCNA certification required.Advanced applicable knowledge of network access technologies including xDSL and PON requiredAdvanced knowledge of IP MPLS technology requiredExperience with xDSL and PON troubleshooting for the purpose of reparation or break/fix activities requiredPossesses leadership potential and displays such potential to influence others and grow their knowledgeExceptional knowledge of optical RF theory and propagation requiredStrong oral and written communications skills requiredBackground must demonstrate the ability to operate within a complex, dynamic environmentPREFERREDCCNP level certification preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit for long periods and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule shared by other department members that may include both normal and differential shift schedules.
