During this apprenticeship, you will be part of the Engineering UK Practice. We deliver projects to various Computacenter world-wide customers by ensuring that the projects and services across the business are delivered, maintained, and tested to a high standard. The role will involve working alongside other delivery team members, IT and business departments, as well as third-party suppliers. Looking for candidates with a willingness to learn and develop new skills, as well as the ability to work as a team player and adapt to changing priorities.

What you’ll do
For the duration for your programme, you will be studying towards a level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship qualification. Throughout your apprenticeship you will dedicate 80% of your time in work and 20% studying toward your qualification.
Network Engineer responsibilities include working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes, and budgets for projects.
Work:
Work as part of a team to support and assist with the technical operational aspects of a project in order to streamline communication between teams. Liaise with internal teams to assign tasks and assist with schedule management. Gain an understanding into the management of networks, exploring network hardware and software, network services and routing protocol. Learn to understand and apply the principles of networking, protocols and associated technologies (specifically this should include the latest published versions of OSI layer model, IP, TCP/IP, routing and switching, WANs, LANs) Learn to understand the core networking and server administration skills required to support a traditional on-premise, cloud or hybrid network. Understand and responds to security threats, firewalls and vulnerabilities. Ability to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, and reports to present back to the team. Project issue management by using problem solving skills and taking appropriate actions to manage and correct the issue, should any arise. Be a key point of contact for all participants in the project as well as sharing any relevant communications. Ensure standards and requirements are met by conducting quality assurance tests. Support the Portfolio Management team in running and organising the portfolios.
Study:
Dedicate one day a week towards studying for your Network Engineer Level 4 qualification. Liaise with your assigned mentor throughout the programme. Attend online workshops.
What you’ll need
As you can tell this exciting role will give you a lot of skills and knowledge, but we do have some requirements upfront. As well as a strong interest in Network Engineering you should be able to demonstrate the following.
You will need to have achieved GCSE’s in Maths, English Language GCSE grade 4/ C or above. If you do not hold these grades in both English and Maths, we can support you to gain this by the time you complete your apprenticeship. You should have excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines. You must also be confident in using computer software including Microsoft office. Confident with outgoing personality, able to collaborate with the team and wider Engineering and consultancy departments.
Please note that for successful applicants, offers will be conditional on passing additional eligibility checks with our training provider which will include a Maths and English assessment and a review of any previous qualifications you hold. Due to the funding requirements of the apprenticeship, applicants must not already hold a Network Engineer Level 4 standard, GNVQ, BTEC or equivalent qualification to be eligible for this programme. The candidate needs to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
