Job Summary

Assist in the operation and management of network routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications with a specific focus on FortiGate and Cisco systems implementation and support. As well as to a smaller degree; participates and leads aspects of evaluation, design, implementation, upgrade and support Air Methods application infrastructure. Adheres to Air Methods policies and procedures as required to maintain regulatory and operational compliance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:


• Provide support and troubleshooting of enterprise grade routing and switching technologies in a complex network environment with a focus on Campus Networks.

• Troubleshooting includes WAN routing (BGP, OSPF, SDWan, etc.), LAN Switching (VLANs, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, Trunking, Port-channels, etc.), VoIP (QoS, SIP, PSTN, etc.).

• Assist in the administration of security technologies such as firewalling, multi-layer VPN technologiesIPSec, IKEv2, etc.), IPS, ACLs, and best practices adhering to regulations (HIPAA, SOX, PCI, CALEA etc.).
• Maintains and supports systems in a 24x7, large, distributed and mission-critical environment including in-house and commercial data center(s) and for helicopter EMS bases around the U.S.
•Monitors and alerts on the health of the company’s network infrastructure and Data Centers

• Participates in or leads projects to deploy new technologies or upgrade existing infrastructure.
• Participates in the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, security controls and disaster recovery.
• Provides administration and escalated technical support for existing technologies, working with outside support services as required.
• Monitors and tests network performance and prepares statistics reports.
• Implements and enforces network security controls and disaster recovery procedures.
• Participates in the evaluation, selection, development, and integration of new network systems and applications
• Performs upgrades, monitors, troubleshoots and fixes network hardware and software problems of medium to high complexity.
• Documents systems meticulously and follows change management processes.
• Researches, develops and implements best practices and standards relative to servers and other systems as assigned.
• Interfaces with vendors and consultants to coordinate the delivery of products and services.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Additional Job Requirements

• Regular scheduled attendance.
• Must be available to takes after-hour calls as required and be available for non-standard work schedule to meet maintenance windows and for critical systems support when required.

Education & Experience

•Bachelor’s degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related field

• 2-5 years’ related experience with LAN / WAN / SDWan / Wireless / Firewalls / Switching / Routing configuration and administration

• 2-5 years’ related experience working in a 24x7 mission critical enterprise grade environment

• Fortinet FCA/FCP certification preferred

• Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification preferred

• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

• Ability to thoroughly document a complex and changing network environment• Working knowledge of regulations related to HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) relative to information security and assurance

• Ability to manage several projects concurrently
• Assess situations and supports decisions by researching, validating and organizing a variety of defined and undefined observations or issues in a fact-based detailed-oriented manner
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including a 24/7 on-call.

Technical Skills

 

•Thorough understanding of FortiNet technologies and related platforms including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiCloud, FortiAnalyzer, etc.

•Thorough understanding of Cisco technologies including Catalyst, Nexus, and Wireless platforms

•Thorough understanding of routing technologies including but not limited to BGP, OSPF, SDWan, Route Maps, Prefix-lists, etc.

•Thorough understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching technologies including but not limited to VLANs, Spanning-Tree, IP Subnetting, DHCP, HSRP, ACLs, etc.

•Experience with SolarWinds and/or FortiAnalyzer Monitoring and Alerting

•Knowledge of network architecture and design elements

•Datacenter experience such as ACI would be a plus

 

Computer Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Microsoft server background required including Windows, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, OCS
• Windows System Administration (Windows 2008/2012),
• VMWare (All latest versions)
• Cisco UCS
• Windows Desktop build & administration
• IP protocol and stack
• DHCP & DNS
• Active Directory administration including GPO’s

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

•Fortinet FCA/FCP certification preferred

•Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification preferred
