We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Engineer to join our team in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. As a Communications Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the network infrastructure, with a focus on patching, security compliance, and supporting Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and Controllers at both customer facilities and inside their Remote Data Center (RDC). Your expertise in security tools like HBSS (Host-Based Security System), ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution), and eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service) will be crucial in ensuring the security and operational effectiveness of our network.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Network Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and Controllers. Ensure network availability, performance, and security. Patch Management: Develop and implement patch management processes and procedures to ensure the timely application of security patches and updates across the network infrastructure. Monitor patch compliance and remediate vulnerabilities in accordance with DoD guidelines. Security Compliance: Ensure network security compliance in alignment with DoD regulations and guidelines. Utilize HBSS and ACAS to monitor, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities across the network. Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security controls. Aruba Wireless Infrastructure Support: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and Controllers. Ensure proper connectivity, coverage, and performance of wireless networks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support wireless network requirements. Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Respond to network incidents and troubleshoot connectivity, performance, and security issues. Conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions. Coordinate with vendors and support teams for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution. Network Monitoring and Optimization: Implement network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve network performance issues. Analyze network traffic patterns and optimize network configurations for improved efficiency. Implement Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms to prioritize critical traffic. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and compliance metrics. Ensure compliance with change management processes. Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security teams, system administrators, and help desk support, to address network-related issues and requirements. Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues.
