HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT (SME) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure supporting the INSCOM customer enclavesPerform daily operational tasks submitted by customers through ticket systemPrepare network or infrastructure Visio topology diagrams, write Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance plans and provide status reports as required, participate in data calls and other operational and maintenance tasksTroubleshoot network problems, network device configurations and coordinate with various department administrators to facilitate connectivity issue resolutionDesign technical solutionsParticipate in the development and support of GISA and INSCOM technical requirementsChampion a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing standard methodologies and success and building positive relationshipsCan deliver technical presentations to include whiteboards at CxO level through to detailed technical staff.System administrator skills with UNIX, Microsoft or application knowledgeProven grasp of LAN and WAN networking protocols and technologies, including switching, routing, and security (e.g., Layer 4-7, firewall, DDoS, etc)Is generally recognized as a leader in the industry in their area of expertise; sought out by others in the area of expertise for advice and guidanceProvides expert support, analysis, research, and advice into exceptionally complex problems, and processes relating to the subject matterCoordinates with contract management and Government personnel to ensure the problems have been properly defined and the solutions satisfy customer needsAnalyzes user needs to determine functional requirements for a wide variety of projects; consults with clients to determine optimum design for assigned projectsGenerates recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other major documents provided to senior level client personnelIdentifies emerging relevant technologies that may result in improvements to current processes and systemsWrites and updates project documentation including system procedures, presentations, and training materialsMay serve as technical team or task lead

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience, or Associate's Degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experiencePreferred Skills:Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environmentAdvanced troubleshooting experience in one or more of the following network technology areas: Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure, Palo Alto Networks NGFW, Site-to-Site VPN, Remote Access VPN, DMVPN Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong customer serviceAbility to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detailProficient with Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePointExcellent attention to detailExcellent communications skills and ability to interact with clientsExperience with Cisco and Palo Alto network technologiesExperience with TCPDump, Wireshark and analyzing network trafficDemonstrate a solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP network models and provide examplesExperience working in a large SDLC environmentClearance Level: TS/SCIRequired Certification(s):DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contractIAT II 8570 Baseline Certification -Sec+CE or equivalentRequired Security Environment Certification: Cisco Certified Network Professional – DatacenterCisco Certified Network Professional – EnterpriseCisco Certified Network Professional – SecurityPalo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer​Location: On Customer SiteUS Citizenship: RequiredAdditional:Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contractPosition may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activityGDIT IS YOUR PLACE:401K with company matchComprehensive health and wellness packagesInternal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your careerProfessional growth opportunities including paid education and certificationsCutting-edge technology you can learn fromRest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays
