The Ground Segment Control Board (GSCB) team primarily focuses on coordination of Commercial Crew Activities, HLS and Gateway Program development and system readiness. The GSCB is a multilateral Program level team that establishes a baseline for and controls subsequent changes to operations and mission integration ground facilities related products. The GSCB also provides a forum for resolving technical and schedule issues, including joint operations and utilization issues. Domestic and International travel is required to participate in technical interchange meetings, establish working relationships, and develop procedural agreements.
Responsibilities:
1) Participate in technical interchange meetings and project meetings as the liaison for the External Partner.
2) Coordinate changes to the Mission Systems as required to support the various External Partners.
3) Coordinate the investigation of Incidents and Problems that affect the External Partners.
4) Prepare and present presentations that describe new MCC capabilities to the External Partners. Prepare and present information about new or modified mission capabilities to affected stakeholders.
5) Act as the advocate for the assigned External Partner to understand the Partner Operations Concepts and Requirements and ensure those are satisfied to the maximum extent possible.
6) Ensure readiness of External Partner to support upcoming mission activities.
7) Schedule External Partner testing of new/modified capabilities and for troubleshooting of errors and/or failures. Provide real-time support to testing activities. Create reports of test activities for management and other stakeholders.
8) Communicate important topics to the Operations team to ensure their understanding and readiness to support mission activities.
9) Chair meetings and lead working groups as needed to address External Partner requirements and issues
10) Perform the role of book manager or technical authority for External Partner documents.
Qualifications:
Work and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience related to space flight operations, control center operations and/or ground or space network operations. Related experience can be in one or more of the following skill areas:
o Spacecraft ground processing systems
o Telemetry, command or trajectory data systems
o Spacecraft simulator systems
o Space-to-ground communication systems
o Large network data transport systems
o International Space Station communication systems
• Be team oriented
• Possess strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
• Have strong decision making and problem resolution capabilities
• Be able to work a flexible and dynamic work schedule
Desired Qualifications
• Current or previous certification in one or more of the JSC Mission Control Center Operations Team (OT) positions
• Knowledge of International Space Station communication systems, radios, computers, video, voice systems, satellite systems, and antennas
• Knowledge of MCC Ground System requirements and architectures
• Knowledge of External Partner requirements and architectures
• Familiarity with External Partner Interface Control Documents and Agreements
• Familiarity with NASA and FOD Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) process
• Ability to write basic HTML
• Experience managing a SharePoint website
• Gateway and/or HLS Program knowledge
