POSITION SUMMARY The Network Security Engineer will design and implement robust security solutions to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure, network, and data. They will actively monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents, continuously improving the security posture and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain security protocols for network infrastructures, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and availability. Configure and manage security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, anti-virus systems, and content filtering solutions. Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and investigate security breaches and other cyber incidents. Respond to security incidents and provide thorough documentation of incidents, including mitigation and prevention recommendations. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to network security and compliance. Stay updated on the latest security technologies and industry best practices, implementing relevant improvements. Generate and analyze security reports to identify areas of risk and improvement. Qualifications Education & Experience: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in network security engineering or a related role. Experience with traditional and next generation firewalls (NGFW). Cisco ASA and Firepower Threat Defense, Firepower Management Center Fortinet Fortigate Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Network Security Best Practices for Traditional and Next Generation Firewalls In depth understanding of Routing and Switching Strong systems and network background with an emphasis in secure configuration and hardening. Knowledge of information security industry and regulatory obligations (PCI DSS, HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST Framework, etc.). Good communication skills ability to take technical details and simplify for explanation with Project Management and Leadership Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines and deliverables Understanding of the technical components of a network infrastructure/architecture and their interactions.
