Job Description: Information Networks are critical to modern warfare. This position plays a critical role in our nation’s defense through the operation, management and defense of the Air Force portion of the Department of Defense Information Network. In this role, you will maintain network infrastructure, to include routers, switches, proxies, firewalls, servers, workstations, printers, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and test labs, to provide maneuverability and defense of both classified and unclassified networks. This is expected to include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following activities:
Provide Enterprise Level Boundary Protection/Security services by employing, operating, managing, configuring, securing, patching, updating, upgrading, and monitoring AF boundary devices and tools. Work with other functional areas across the enterprise to maintain and administer security boundary components to meet IAW DoD and Air Force Standards utilizing industry best practices. Change, upgrade, patch, administer boundary devices, manage load balancers, and policies, utilizing two-person integrity. Participate in project management, planning, implementation, and installation to ensure configuration and integration conforms to baseline architecture. Identify and document potential threats and manage resolution of security violations. Research IT security software and hardware solutions and determine technical applicability to the enterprise. Configure, maintain, and manage IT security related devices including Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Firewalls, and Proxies. Manage policies and configurations related to Zero Trust Next-Gen Gateways upon implementation. Perform Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) and DoD Information Network (DODIN) Operations. Provide services to support Domain Name Services (DNS) and Tactical IP (TACIP) addresses. Provide DNS services for deployed unit exercises and real-world contingencies while maintaining authoritative control of the af.mil, au.edu, and af.smil.mil domains for the Air Force. Coordinate and facilitate registration of AF whitelist requirements. Coordinate, facilitate, validate, and modify Microsoft O365 email blocks as needed. Other network security related tasks, as assigned.Required Skills/Education:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Certification Requirements: DoDD 8140 IAT-II; Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA); Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) preferred.
Years of Experience: 5+ years' experience with Enterprise DOD boundary protection and CSSP operations to include: install, monitor, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, patch, harden, maintain, and operate intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies to protect AFNet resources from both internal and external threats according to DoD security standards.
