Network Services Automation Engineer & Technician Intern: 2025
IBM
This is for a 2025 summer internship with the following start dates: May - August or June - September for quarter system schools.
The Network engineering internship will focus on various work and tasks related to data network infrastructure automation and engineering. The primary focus of this internship will be to build network automation solutions, simplifying network operational processes and workflows. The candidate will also have the opportunity to build, deploy, maintain and manage network infrastructure and network security devices in a multi-vendor, hybrid cloud, heterogeneous Cisco, Palo Alto and Infoblox TCP/IP based networking environment. Implement and integrate the principles of network reliability engineering into your work.
- Design and build network automation solutions based on Ansible and Tufin for Palo Alto and Cisco environments
- Automate network engineering processes and workflows to increase the operational agility of network engineering operations.
- build, deploy, maintain, and manage network infrastructure (routers, aggregation switches)
- build, deploy, maintain, and manage Next Generation security platforms (FW, IPS)
- on all systems maintain, apply and assure a strong security posture, currency levels and compliance according to IBM security standards and requirements.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve network infrastructure problems and service interruptions
- Collects data, then supplies it to engineering peer teams for analysis and data-driven recommendations and decision making
- Master and utilize various IBM and vendor network utilities
- Create and provide recurring network reports based on network statistics and analytics
Candidates should have basic knowledge in one or more of the following skills:
- Experience in a TCP/IP based Networking environment
- Network Automation using Ansible, JSON, RestAPI, Jenkins, Tufin, PA Panorama
- Cisco Networking and Devices (switches, routers, vpn, firewalls)
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Network routing protocols and operation (BGP, OSPF, MLPS)
- Multi-Cloud Networking
- Software programming / scripting skills (Python, Go Language)
