What You'll Do
As a Network Specialist you will join a team of other specialist engineers supporting our dedicated customer’s network. Our customer is a utility company with a HQ in Glasgow with country wide network coverage across multiple locations. The Network Specialist will be responsible for Break Fix Support / Project Activity and Lifecycle Management of the customer WAN / SDWAN / LAN / WIFI / Telephony / Security Suite across a broad range of Product suites including Cisco / Palo Alto / Checkpoint / AWS

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibility to provide technical support across the customers Cisco Networks and Telephony. Ensure we maintain a strong relationship with our customer with regular on-site engagement.Attend regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to provide regular updates. Monitoring and maintaining existing Cisco networks including Lifecycle ManagementProducing plans to remediate network vulnerabilities Work with different engineering teams to develop solutionsWork outside normal hours when required to ensure we meet our SLA's with the customer to maintain the network. Lifecycle and Asset management Configure and maintain IP Telephony EstatePatching Cisco and other network equipmentParticipate in a 24x7 standby rota which will either be 1 in 6 or 1 in 7.

Who You Are
The Network Specialist will be an IP / Network / Telephony engineer with several years’ experience and hold a CCNA or equivalent. They will value learning as part of their career journey and associated accreditations are preferable. Higher level certification and broader certification within the Cisco world and other technologies and vendors will be encouraged and may be necessary for future promotion opportunity. The potential candidate will be currently working in a networking environment, maintaining and troubleshooting IP networks. They will be comfortable implementing all topics covered in the Cisco CCNA or above. They will be able to demonstrate their networking skills and experience at interview with relevant real world examples.

 

Additionally, the ideal candidate will:

Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Have a proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex network issues efficiently.Be adaptable and open to learning new technologies and methodologies as the industry evolves.Have experience in managing network-related projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams (if relevant).Align with our company values and be passionate about contributing to our mission.
