Job Description

GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a Network and Systems Administrator in a hybrid role, supporting 24/7/365 operations for U.S. Army Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany, as part of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program. This position is dependent on operational needs, and requires shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

As a hybrid Network and Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for configuring network enterprise devices to include multipoint TACLANES, routers, and switches. You must also have a general knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (call manager).  As a system administrator, you will utilize Active Directory, create and modify user accounts, and are expected to understand how to image a workstation.  In this hybrid role, you will provide technical solutions, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high-performance standards.

 You will also collaborate with Tier III engineers and provide leadership to less-experienced team members.

HOW A NETWORK & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  Configure and  maintain LAN/WAN network systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues, ensuring smooth operations.

Provide hybrid support for the Microsoft Windows environment, including creating and updating user accounts in Active Directory, imaging computers, and working with print servers.

Security and User Account Management: Enforce security policies across both network and system environments. Manage user accounts, including creation, deletion, and training, ensuring compliance with access policies.

Technical Solutions and Documentation: Maintain and enhance technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and backup procedures.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor and optimize system and network performance to ensure high operational efficiency. Proactively identify and resolve network and system performance issues, as necessary.

Leadership and Collaboration: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior personnel in both remote and on-site settings. Collaborate with Tier III engineers to report on and escalate complex issues when required.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEE

Security Clearance: Must possess an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (SSBI), with the ability to obtain TS/SCI as required.

Education: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Network Administration and Systems Administration.

Certifications: Must be IAT Level II Compliant (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent certification).

Accreditation: Must be able to obtain German Technical Expertise Status Accreditation (TESA).

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of LAN/WAN network environments, including routers, switches, and network control software. Strong understanding of networking and data transmission protocols.
