Network Technician

Position Overview & Responsibilities \n

The network technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining LAN and WAN technologies for all remote CF locations. Core responsibilities include travelling to remote sites to set up new connectivity while following biosecurity practices. Troubleshooting and maintenance of alarm lines, phone lines and other connectivity systems is also required.\n
\n

Major Areas of Accountability\n\nInstalling standardized network connections, wireless access points, security devices, and cabling for LAN and WAN connections at remote sites that span a large geographic area.\nTroubleshooting system failures and identifying bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency at each remote site.\nInstallation and troubleshooting of standardized alarm and phone lines either VOIP or POTS.\nDesigning and installing computer networks, connections, and cabling\nTroubleshooting system failures and identifying roadblocks in the network\nFixing problems in LAN infrastructure and testing and configuring software\nMaintaining and repairing hardware including peripheral devices\nEvaluating network performance to improve the network\nScheduling upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow\nProviding technical direction and giving training to coworkers about network systems\nWorking with vendors to get needed equipment for the networks and systems\n\n

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:\n\nMinimum formal education required: Associate degree\nClear, concise, and precise written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds including non-technical audiences. \nStrong solution-oriented approach to team problem solving. \nAbility to multi-task and to prioritize objectives, anticipate situations and take quick action.\n\n
\n

Additional Desirable Skills\/Qualifications\n\n2 years of experience in a corporate IT Team environment.\nCertifications in any of the following are a plus: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCENT\/CCNA\nGood knowledge of LAN\/WAN networks, TCP\/IP protocols and network technologies.\nExperience in Level 1 and\/or Level 2 user support (Freshservice or similar ITSM tool).\nNetworking including Routing and Switching (Cisco, Meraki) and Wireless technologies.\nEnd user computing devices including Windows, Android, and iOS.\nExperience with physical security or bio-security programs and tools.\n\n

Specialized or Motorized Equipment and\/or Tools:\n

This position will require operating a company vehicle and company owned manure agitation\n

equipment. Any employment offer extended for this position will be contingent upon the review of the\n

candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The MVR will be reviewed to determine insurability based on\n

CFF's insurance carrier and company policy.\n
