The District of Columbia Department of Healthcare Finance (DHCF) is the agency within the District’s government that administers the Medicaid program – a program responsible for providing healthcare services for more than one-third of the District’s residents. This position is responsible for providing data, voice, and wireless communication as well as operating IT systems.
The IT Specialist’s responsibilities will include:
• Meeting with key DHCF agency stakeholders to define business requests;
• Collaboratively work with project team and senior officials in DHCF; and,
• Knowledge of windows operating systems, network operations and infrastructure architecture.
Required Candidate Qualifications
• 5 years of Windows server and network operations
• 3 years of supporting IT systems
• 3 years translating business requirements into solutions
• 3 years supporting users by solving technical problems
Responsible for server and desktop support. Also support staff with various technologies on numerous projects at DHCF.
• Ability to analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot and resolve complex system hardware, software, networking and/or storage related problems.
• Knowledge of information technology software, hardware and network communication technology and protocols.
• Knowledge of networking operating systems software internals and UNIX, Windows-based operating systems and networking.
• Maintains, monitors and troubleshoots LAN/WAN and SAN operations; solves complex LAN/WAN and SAN applications’ problems; installs, integrates, customizes, enhances, troubleshoots and tests LAN and SAN hardware and software; designs and tests network configurations.
• Knowledge of the interrelationship of multiple IT systems, utilizing methods, principles, and practices covering restoral from complex computer and infrastructure system failures, recovery of systems, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to include hardware and software components.
• Knowledge of applying analysis concepts to IT network systems and independent IT platforms, integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and methods, and project management principles and methods sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.
