JOB PURPOSE:

Assist in the installation, support, and ongoing maintenance of the Midco Business Network.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Work on assigned projects and collaborate with internal departments to fulfill customer orders for new and upgraded services. Execute MOPs to ease the deployment of new service orders and network configurations. Resolve customer trouble tickets and outages on the Business Network. Partner with vendors for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Participate in an on-call rotation and perform scheduled maintenances. Possess networking knowledge (Basic understanding of layer 2 vs layer 3, IPv4, IPv6, ACL’s, Spanning Tree) and troubleshooting skills. Follow and serve as a role model in displaying Midco’s Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers. Adhere to Midco’s privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy. Maintain regular attendance as required by your position. Knowledge of structured cabling standards and AC/DC power safety and standards. Familiarity with fiber types, connectors, and basic handling. Knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SolarWinds, AKIPS, syslog, etc. Must be able to travel when necessary. Operate and drive a Company vehicle in accordance with all Midco policies including maintaining a safe driving record. Compile timely, comprehensive, and accurate reports as requested. Follow and serve as a role model in displaying Midco’s Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers. Adhere to Midco’s privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.

Collaborate effectively with internal and external customers to ensure exceptional service. Demonstrate courage by tackling tough issues while acknowledging own limitations without compromising integrity. Remove obstacles for team members. Encourage creative solutions. Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility, and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility. Communicate clear expectations that set a high bar while holding team members accountable to reach these goals. Model flexibility, resiliency and change management skills by staying self-aware, constantly learning, and finding ways to cut through ambiguous problems. Identify root causes of problems and implement solutions while keeping a holistic and long-term perspective in mind. Actively follow Midco policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Network Technician I

HS Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1-year relevant experience required.

Network Technician II:

HS Diploma or GED required. Minimum 3 years relevant experience required. Previous experience in telecommunications industry preferred. CCT certification preferred.

Network Technician III:

HS Diploma or GED required. Minimum 3 years relevant experience required. Previous experience in telecommunications industry preferred. CCNA certification preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
