Responsibilities

This position performs testing in the neuro lab to assist in the diagnosis and/or treatment of various neurological illnesses.

The following duties are intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbents in this position and is not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical extension of position responsibilities.

Performs various neurological tests and procedures to identify causes of potential neurological symptoms in the neuro lab, and at patients' bedside.Performs clerical duties such as producing reports, filing, completing forms, batching billing slips, and keeping a patient log book.Cleans and maintains machines in good working condition at all times; performs sterilization techniques by practicing proper disposal of hazardous material, cleaning electrodes, and autoclaving instruments.Answers telephone and keep the appointment schedule.Conducts inventory of stock and ascertains that necessary supplies are always on hand. Restocks exam rooms on a daily basis to be certain the supplies are in appropriate drawers.Provides on-call weekend coverage as needed to support the needs of the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: Graduation from certified Neuro-diagnostic program or 4 or more years of relevant experience; working knowledge of EEG, EMG standards; an understanding of medical terminology; excellent mechanical/electrical skills to be able to maintain and trouble shoot equipment; working knowledge of sterilization techniques and universal precautions; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to operate a computer; and working knowledge of test interpretation and techniques.
