The role you’ll contribute:

The Neurodiagnostic Specialist I is an essential member of the neurodiagnostic team, responsible for performing all aspects of quality routine and some advanced neurodiagnostic procedures commensurate with skills/training and in accordance with technical standards set forth by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technologies (ASET) and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS). Observes the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan as well as all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. This role requires a strong foundation in neurodiagnostic technology and the ability to work effectively under supervision and is required to maintain and improve levels of clinical and technical knowledge across all disciplines of the neurodiagnostic field. Participates in the department quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Competent in at least one additional modality (to include, but not limited to PET, WADA, Surgery)

· Review, analyze and document neurological data accurately.

· Ability to observe EEG tracings and respond appropriately to seizure activity.

· Explain testing procedures to patients and family using age-appropriate guidelines.

· Perform studies with appropriate documentation, observe patients, troubleshoot equipment and physiological artifacts.

· Evaluate recorded diagnostic data and report abnormal findings to physician.

· Recognizes and takes appropriate actions to respond to evolving patient care needs.

· Teach and train less experienced technologists and students in neurodiagnostic procedures.

· Ensure compliance with hospital policies and neurodiagnostic standards.

· Assist in the development of neurodiagnostic protocols and procedures.

· Maintain and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic equipment as needed.

· Attend monthly staff meetings and complete monthly competency quizzes.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

· 2 years of experience in neurodiagnostic technology.

· Proficiency in performing quality EEG and LTM testing and monitoring all patient populations including but not limited to neonatal, pediatric, adult, mentally and developmentally delayed or behaviorally challenged.

· Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians and other health care professionals.

· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in the healthcare industry.

· Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

· Ability to mentor and teach students and less experienced staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

· Two (2) years of experience post training/education in a neurodiagnostic role in a hospital setting with progressive responsibility.

· Proficient in primary service lines provided in the Neurodiagnostic Services Department

· Ability to work in a stressful situation.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

· ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation certification as a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.)

· Basic Life Support (BLS)
