Job Description

Under minimal supervision, the Neurodiagnostic Technologist III monitors continuous EEG studies to recognize and denote abnormal EEG activity. Additionally, the Neurodiagnostic Tech III performs routine and more complex neurodiagnostic procedures in outpatient and inpatient facilities through a collaborative approach with the healthcare team. Supports and ensures that comprehensive patient care services are provided that support the integrity of the family system and patient care team. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist III may function as a charge technologist if requested.

Experience

3 years of experience in inpatient settingCertified Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM) board eligible

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree or higherGraduated from a CAAHEP accredited Neurodiagnostic program

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

ABRET Certified Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT)Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to demonstrate competencies key to the position within six months of employment

Job Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, monitors continuous EEG studies to recognize and denote any abnormal activity in accordance with ACNS guidelines.May be responsible for serving as charge technologist requiring prioritization and delegation of orders to appropriate neurodiagnostic staff.Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates alternatives, which lead to desired outcomes in test administration.Performs department basic and advanced competencies related to neurodiagnostic testing.Performs patient assessment as related to care, such as electrode product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.Is responsible for maintaining continuing medical education and increasing technical competencies.Follows departmental guidelines to ensure the best patient care possible.Informs manager or designee of all patient/personal injury or unsafe situations, anticipated problems, and unusual situations, and completes appropriate related documentation according to departmental and hospital guidelines.Communicates effectively with patient/family, department staff, physicians, and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care.Works at alternate locations as needed to support patient care at the discretion of direct supervisor/manager or designee.
