We are seeking a dynamic researcher who will establish an independent and extramurally funded clinical research program of outstanding quality. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant academic community and contribute to advancing neurorehabilitation research within a supportive, interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high-impact, federally-funded research program that aligns with the department's focus on neurorehabilitation, including partnering with clinicians in a multidisciplinary approach to conduct patient-focused, translational research. Neurorehabilitation is a multidisciplinary field dedicated to enhancing the recovery and quality of life of individuals with neurological and neuromuscular disorders. It involves developing and implementing innovative therapeutic strategies to improve motor, sensory, cognitive, and respiratory functions, with an emphasis on optimizing neuroplasticity and functional outcomes. Candidates may have backgrounds in disciplines such as physical therapy, speech-language pathology, biomechanics, exercise science, engineering, rehabilitation science, neuroscience, or motor development, among others. The Department has a special interest in two key areas of research: Respiratory Rehabilitation: Research focused on improving breathing function and respiratory health in individuals with neurological or neuromuscular disorders. Upper Airway Dysfunction: Investigating therapies and interventions to address dysphagia and airway protection in neurological or neuromuscular conditions. The Department is developing a core of researchers engaged in clinical research to build a collaborative and interdisciplinary research centered around neurorehabilitation and respiratory health that complements the already established research strengths of the Department and College of Medicine - Jacksonville at large. Early-career candidates should have a promising publication record as well as post-doctoral research experience. Mid-career candidates are expected to have demonstrated the ability to obtain extramural research funding as principal investigator. Minimum Requirements: Candidates should have a PhD in a field related to Neurorehabilitation Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience conducting original research in neurorehabilitation and a proven track record of receiving NIH grant funding.
