NEW AMERICANS CASE MANAGER - FLINT, MICHIGAN

 

This is a temporary role.

 

Do you have Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health or community services, or equivalent experience working with refugees or other vulnerable populations? Do you have the ability to speak, read, and write fluent English? Are you bilingual? We are looking for someone comfortable utilizing a translator and transporting clients to appointments, etc. 

 

REQUIREMENT:  a valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients as well as valid proof of automobile insurance in the driver's name.

Provides resettlement and support services to qualifying refugee clients in accordance with contract, organization and accreditation standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Assess US Tie's and co-sponsor's ability to assist in resettlement services and to comply with Operational GuidanceCoordinate all pre-arrival case activities, including housing arrangements and communications with US Ties and co-sponsorsComplete home safety inspections. Furnish homes with furniture and required supply itemsConduct initial airport reception and home safety orientation for arriving refugeesProvide initial orientation and develop individualized, holistic service plan for new clients. Conduct ongoing education and complete assessments demonstrating clients understanding and information retentionComplete applications for Social Security card, public benefits and other applicable registrations within the required time periodsDocument all visits, case activity and all efforts to meet refugee material needs as outlined by Operational GuidanceMaintain relevant reports and statistics related to client activities and program services. Complete program reports within required timeframe securing all required signaturesManage agency resettlement funds on behalf of assigned cases, monitoring balances, and ensuring proper entry of vouchers and supporting documentationArrange client appointments and provide transportation for all New American services as required or needed, in compliance with applicable child safety laws _________________________________________________________________________________

Job Qualifications

 

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

 

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health or community services preferred, or equivalent experience working with refugees or other vulnerable populations

 

Experience

 

Minimum one year experience in a culturally diverse environment or community services preferred

 

Additional Work Requirements

 

Automobile travel preferred. Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients. Valid proof of automobile insurance
