As the New Business Sales Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and supporting the growth of existing and new revenues through licensing partnerships for our publishing house across multiple brands.
Reporting to the Licensing Sales Director, you will be involved in all aspects of the pitch process including researching industry landscapes, targeting and prospecting partners, pitch sales collateral preparation and post pitch support in getting the deal over the line and settled into the business. At times, this role will also involve pitching directly to clients. This position requires a strong sales acumen, excellent use of insight, communication skills, and a keen eye for identifying opportunities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the Licensing Sales Director & the Licensing Director to align business development efforts with overall licensing and revenue goals. Conduct market research to identify potential licensing opportunities and target industries aligned with our brands. Prospect and when asked, engage with potential licensees, including manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers to introduce our licensing offerings to define the level of interest in taking the discussions further. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target companies, acting as a key point of contact throughout the business development process. Prepare and support the delivery of compelling sales presentations, pitches, and proposals to potential licensees. Support the negotiation of licensing contracts, including terms, and product specifications, ensuring alignment with company objectives and brand guidelines. Coordinate with internal teams, including legal, marketing, and creative, to facilitate the successful execution of licensing agreements and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Monitor industry trends, competitive landscapes, and consumer insights to identify new business opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly. Attend conferences, and networking events to promote the company’s licensing capabilities and generate leads. Provide regular reports and updates on business development activities, pipeline, and progress to the Licensing Sales Director and senior management. Stay up-to-date with licensing regulations, copyright laws, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and protect intellectual property. To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values. ABOUT YOU
Proven experience in new business development, preferably within the licensing or related industry. Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated track record of successfully closing licensing deals and achieving revenue targets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence decision-making at all levels. Solid understanding of licensing practices, contract negotiation, and intellectual property rights. Knowledge of the publishing industry, market trends, and consumer preferences is desirable. Self-motivated and results-driven with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on licensing opportunities. Exceptional presentation and pitching abilities, with the capability to effectively communicate the value and potential of our brands and products. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess market potential and make data-driven business decisions.WHAT WE OFFER
