The New Champion is essential to maintaining a clean, efficient and productive plant.  This individual works closely with our operations team to improve efficiencies and reduce injuries. The Training Lead responsibility is also essential to ensure our operators are fully trained on job requirements to produce quality product.  This role also works closely with operational audits to update, track and manage training records for our internal and external customers.

 

NEW Champion:

Lead and support Lean initiatives within the different departments of the organization by understanding their processes, identifying opportunities and developing new tools for improving operations. Redefine and realign industrial and business KPIs and OPIs towards the global strategic targets. Present, facilitate and lead process improvement through team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management and presentations. Use appropriate measurement, statistics, analysis of historic data and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements. Develop improvement standards in line with best practices and improve process documentation to reflect best practices. Report on progress of projects through written reports, project management tools and presentations, understanding the risks, dependencies, budgets, resourcing issues, critical milestones and actions necessary to ensure success. Provide process and statistical analysis for project improvement. Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance with synergy and record.

Training Lead:

Coordinate and collaborate training activities together with other departments/functions Follow-up of the individual who is on production training and the individual progress plan/training form Assist with mapping and identification of training needs Participate in competence development of operators in production Update and maintenance of skill matrix Maintenance of training forms for every production process Coordinate training for all shift teams in the factory Assist in the exchange of expertise across the shift teams Follow up that all requirements and need for certificates of competence are completed Update training schedules in the event of changes Follow up of internal instructors for documented and certified training (Forklift, Lead etc.) Course facilitation as needed Provide regular updates during weekly meetings with Supervisors and Production Manager

Requested Competencies and Qualification

Manufacturing experience, 5-7 years Industrial Engineering or Business degree preferred with expertise in Lean philosophy, Six Sigma or Training. Root Cause Analysis experience: Five Whys, Fishbone, Four Square, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). High organizational skills. Self-motivated and proactive. Experience working with multi-cultural groups. Experience working with cross functional teams. Applied statistical knowledge. Be familiar with training systems and solutions Fluent English Good collaborative skills Structured, analytical and accurate

Expected results

NEW Champion:

NEW level improvement per year. Impact on each business or production unit with improvement plan (cost savings, customer service, flow, quality, …) Support stagnant endeavors and lead and/or develop new Lean initiatives. Identify opportunities for improvement within the plants and operations. Standardize good methods of work observed and tested in other units.

Training Lead:

Training is carried out according to the company`s needs Maintenance of training forms and skill matrix for the production Achievement of agreed training goals Support for managers and operators

 

Contex

Nexans has developed systems and tools to implement Lean management (NEW) within its Operations. The target is to support the deployment of this program in the plant, logistics centers and offices of Nexans Charleston. This role will also support departments in training of all employees to include the  development, improvement/maintenance of training system, tools, and documents. Continuously monitor training activities, work with managers and supervisors across  teams regarding training needs and opportunities.  Ensure compliance and adherence with Corporate lean and training initiatives related to ISO 9001 and other audit programs. Improve and maintain plant lean initiatives, training forms and other relevant procedures.
