The ICOS Vision Systems division focuses on the backend of the line semiconductor industry providing fully automated tools to inspect and sort, finished integrated circuit packages. For more than 15 years, ICOS has been a market leader with tray-to-tray and tray-to-tape inspection and sorting tools found in the production facilities of all major chipmakers in the world. Our market-leading technology and superior customer service requires strong talent in optics, machine control, algorithms and applications within our engineering teams. New College Graduate Engineer
Purpose of the Role:
This role represents an excellent opportunity for graduate scientists or engineers who are looking to establish a career in a fast-growing, award-winning, global semiconductor company with a clearly defined career development path!
Company Introduction:
Following the company's extensive onboarding program, you will join our 12-month Graduate Development Program which includes: technical classroom and on-the-job training, soft-skills training, team building, corporate responsibility activities and finally take up a role within one of our teams.
It is not required to have all the skills and knowledge to perform the role. Full on-the-job training will be provided through our Graduate Development Program, supported by your KLA mentor.
During your initial 12-months development period (and dependent on your background and skillset), you will spend time in several key departments such as Applications support, Operations and Marketing, and various Engineering fields (systems, vision, software, mechanical).
Over the course of your 12-months training plan you will have the opportunity to:
· Interact with domain specialists (optics, algorithms, systems designers, software architects, industry partners) to build a deep understanding of the customer problems and design sophisticated solutions for our customers.
· Work as part of different teams responsible for responding to both challenging urgent customer requests as well as long term exciting innovations for next generation modules.
· Gain experience in the integration of the mechatronic, optical and software building blocks, working on concrete projects to bring value to our customers.
· Assist the sales team in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs.
· Support the project management of mechanical design projects including organizing design reviews, working on price estimations, building prototypes, completing product documentation, transferring products to Operations to enable mass production.
During your training period you will also be given the opportunity to:
· Work in different teams (rotating on a 2-months basis) to gain a broad knowledge of different processes and products
· Present your leanings to the senior management team on a 4-6 monthly basis
· Undertake non-technical training e.g., project management, presentation skills, effective communication
· Spend time at the KLA (ICOS) manufacturing facility to gain a deeper understanding of ICOS products
· Meet with customers via Zoom, in person on site or in the field at customer sites
This position may give an opportunity for some international travel (Europe and Asia).
At the end of your training period, you will move into a full-time engineering role within KLA Belgium based on your skills, experience, and interest.
Your qualifications:
· A master’s degree in engineering or science
· Customer focus and a desire to provide innovative solutions is crucial
· Ability to balance short term targets with strategic challenges
· Passionate about one or more of the following domains: software, mechanical, robotics, electrical
· Independent problem solving with good communication skills and broad interest in all engineering domains.
· A willingness to challenge existing ideas and approaches
· Hands-on, self-organized approach
· Willingness to take initiative and ownership
· Proficient in English
