Position Overview: A Nurse Graduate Resident is a nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for multiple patient customers, delivering exceptional care utilizing both nursing and critical thought processes. The Nurse Resident will be supervised by a licensed nurse in area of practice in which the new nurse graduate will be working. This Nurse Resident will collaborate with other members of the clinical team and associated allied health providers to insure seamless and efficient delivery of care for all patient customers. This Nurse Resident will ensure compliance with all standards set forth by Granville Health System, North Carolina Board of Nursing, The Joint Commission, EMTALA, Hill-Burton, CMS, HHS/OIG, HIPAA, North Carolina General Statutes and other regulatory agencies for the management of all assigned personnel, systems, supplies and equipment. The Nurse Resident will conduct their practice utilizing the core competencies set forth by North Carolina Board of Nursing, the American Nurses Association and/or the Emergency Nurses Association. The Nurse Resident will process information in the Granville Health System - wide information system as a requirement of meeting full performance of assigned position responsibilities. The Nurse Resident will receive a discipline specific competency-based preceptorship with validation. Nursing Process - Assessment: Collects data in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the biophysical, psychosocial, self-care, educational discharge planning and environmental needs of the patient. Planning: Formulates a goal-directed plan of care which is prioritized and based on identified patient care needs. Implementation: Initiates plan of care based on established priorities, essential needs and available resources. Evaluation: Assesses on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of intervention and revises the plan of care as needed. Psychomotor Skills - Demonstrates competence in required technical skills. Documentation - Accountable for overall medical record completeness and accuracy. Documents in a timely, accurate, and concise manner reflecting proper use of terminology and abbreviations. Patient Safety - Functions with an awareness and appreciation of safety/infection control policies as identified with the institution by using universal precautions and proper body mechanics. Will ensure equipment for proper function and accuracy. Emergency Situations: Identifies an unstable or emergency condition and initiates appropriate action. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Possess temporary nursing graduate permit through the NC Board of Nursing. Clinical experience in practice setting. BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certifications are required or within 6 months of hire date, per department-specific requirements.
