Position Availability: Position Title: New Student Orientation Leader Requisition Number: 0406073572 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Provost/Provost's Office Responsibilities: Orientation Leaders (OLs) are student leaders who possess a strong desire to work with new students and their supporters during Orientation Programs. OLs contribute to the University’s New Student Orientations through leadership, peer mentorship, and customer service excellence. The OLs will be chosen based on the following criteria:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Welcome and acclimate new students and their families to campus during New Student Orientation programs Lead new students through engagement activities Support a variety of in-person on-campus and off-campus events for new students Manage a cohort of roughly 50 new undergraduate students  Assist in marketing and social media campaigns throughout the Orientation season Introduce new students to campus resources and support systems Respond to tasks on time; help troubleshoot difficult situations Serve as a positive student leader and representative of the New School  Other duties as assigned


WORK MODE

On-Campus Position: Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that is not feasible to be performed remotely.
SALARY RANGE

Paid up to $1000 (through payment of $16.50/hour) throughout the position. This is a Fall (August-October) position only with the potential for rehire in the Spring 2026 semester. Early Residential Move-In Access for students living on-campus during the fall semester.

Minimum Qualifications:
Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above Declared as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at TNS for Fall 2025 Be in good academic and conduct standing with The New School A passion for supporting students transitioning into campus life and orientation at large Present themselves as positive role models Be reliable, responsible, confident, and adaptable Be able to work as a team player and motivate co-workers Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of individuals Possess organizational skills and strong interpersonal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrate pride in the University and New Student Orientation Promote a heightened awareness and respect for diversity Have a working knowledge of the different aspects of the university to assist and serve as effective liaisons between students and other members of the TNS community Demonstrate adaptability in high-stress situations and be able to work under pressure Demonstrate a professional attitude, effective communication skills, ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback, and be engaged in assisting new students Be committed to individual personal and academic growth by practicing effective time management
