Job Description:

NewsRadio 930 WBEN-Buffalo is looking for the next great multimedia journalist to join the WBEN and Audacy Buffalo news team as a full-time news anchor/reporter/digital producer.  If you’re a compelling storyteller on air, online and in social media, have a sense for where the next breaking story might originate, and understand that there is a critical difference between news reporting and simple dictation, WBEN would love to hear from you.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated starting salary range for New York-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $33,000.00/Yr.-$35,000.00/Yr.. 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

 

Anchoring top and bottom hour newscastsOperating the audio boardGoing out on location to cover news eventsUpdating our website and assisting preparations for newscasts.Producing and recording news segmentsGathering, writing, recording, editing and delivering news/traffic & weather content including live coverage from the field as well as the studio.  Use social media - including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - during the course of your shift to connect with listeners, promote upcoming stories and interviews, and to highlight station content.Identify engaging moments originating from our radio shows and transforming them into a produced video/audio for digital consumption.Interviewing newsmakers.Writing scripts and ad-libbing material for stories.Development and research of potential news stories.

High energy, passionate approach neededJournalistic writing skills a mustSimple digital video and editing skillsAnchoring on-air newscastsUnderstand that accurate reporting and speed to market is criticalMust be mobile to cover news on the scene and in the fieldExisting cell phone service and recent edition smartphoneA vision for excellence2 or more years experience covering breaking news, and original news stories for media using audio and digital assets.Produce content on multi-media platforms including web and social media sitesA valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
