Job Summary/Description:

WECT is seeking an experienced reporter/anchor to join our team. The right candidate should have a love of local news, a positive attitude, hard work ethic, excels at writing for both broadcast and digital platforms, and be a team player. This reporter/anchor will be asked to report in the field or help cover big stories, including breaking news and severe weather. This person will also help anchor newscasts during the week. The anchor would also be asked to fill-in on other newscasts as needed. The candidate should also be able to shoot, interview, write, edit and report on air as well as helping producers with their newscasts. This is not a position for a prompter reader or feature reporter.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

- Providing daily content with packages
- Anchoring newscasts as assigned
- Live reporting as assigned
- Responsible for staying up to date and confirming stories
- Ability to fill in on different shifts as needed
- Ability to work well with others...MUST be a team player
- Ability to communicate clearly on air and behind the scenes
- Post multiple times daily on multiple station-connected social media sites
- Must excel at writing for broadcast and digital platforms

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Ideal candidate should have at least 2 or more years experience as an anchor for a broadcast news station or news website
- Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
- Must have a solid grasp of AP Style, the ability to write clearly with sound grammar and under deadline pressure
- Must be a self-starter
- Prefer an anchor with editing and shooting skills
- MVR check required
