Job Summary: The News Photographer and Editor is responsible for capturing and editing video content for newscasts and other programming. This role requires shooting, editing, and assembling video footage, ensuring it aligns with storylines and maximizes impact. The ideal candidate will work closely with other team members to discuss assignments, logistics, and desired effects, while maintaining video and editing equipment to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Shoot video for news reports, setting up, composing, and executing video shots as required.
+ Organize and string together raw footage into a continuous whole based on scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming.
+ Review assembled footage to determine necessary corrections, trimming segments to specified lengths and reassembling for maximum storytelling impact.
+ Select and combine the most effective shots to form a logical, smoothly running story, ensuring audio and visual effects are aligned to complete the final product.
+ Edit video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content, operating computer editing systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units.
+ Operate live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations as needed.
+ Confer with personnel to discuss assignments, work product, and desired effects, ensuring smooth collaboration and efficient workflows.
+ Maintain editing and video recording equipment, ensuring it is operational at all times.
+ Perform other duties as assigned to support the production team.
Requirements & Skills:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Minimum of two years' experience operating video recording and editing equipment.
+ Proficiency with video editing systems, electronic titling systems, and other technical equipment.
+ Strong proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and office equipment.
+ Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
+ Flexibility to work any shift as required.
