The Press Operator will run all printing presses including the F&K, Webtron and Comco. Prepare print jobs for the presses by inspecting all setups and comparing/verifying the print color quality. Monitor the functions of the press and troubleshoot as necessary to ensure the production of high quality prints. In addition, perform and complete other work as assigned. All employees must follow all of Graphic Packaging International’s safety procedures and policies.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
Prepare print jobs: Follow production schedule. Review job jacket for proper setup. Adjust register nip pressure to specified close tolerance. Set up slitter blades. Load plate cylinders, put ink on, and change inks as needed. Visually inspect the anilox rollers and blade system to ensure they are ready for production. Check the print colors using the spectrophotometer and use the print template to compare and verify print. Monitor the press: Monitor colors as the print runs. Monitor the viscosity and PH level of the ink. Adjust colors and levels as needed following given parameters Make sure the print goes onto the paper properly and watch for quality defects. Troubleshoot: If a defect is discovered evaluate the defect and determine the best corrective action(s). Make the necessary adjustments to correct the defect. Possible defects include backed out print, ink pump starving, off colors, off registration, and general print quality defects. Paperwork: Complete a Job Setup Form for every print run. Complete the front and back of the form. Signing off indicating all steps are completed. Complete a Production Report Form for every print run. Record the print number, the type of print, the print size, how much time the print change took, and the lineal feet run. Record any problems that occurred. Turn report in to the hourly supervisor. Unload Paper: Use a hydraulic lift to remove the roll once it is done running; move it to the front of the machine. Responsible for assuring production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards. Other duties as assigned.MINUMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Previous Press Operating experience highly preferred
Work requires continuous standing and the ability to occasionally safely lift up to approx. 50lbs.
The ability to analyze data and work rapidly is required. All other duties as assigned.
