Night Shift - RB Production Technician, Solution Prep III 

 

Support in the manufacture of Bayer’s rFactor VIII products (Kovaltry and Jivi) by performing daily media/solution preparation operations in accordance with cGMP and safety regulations to minimize any loss of sales 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:   

Preparation and transfer of Cell Culture and Purification large scale solutions, and filtration of Media solutions including but not limited to: antifoam, metals panel, and stabilizer solution. 

Cleans/sterilizes and maintain Media/Solution Prep equipment using appropriate CIP (Clean-In-Place), SIP (Steam-In-Place) procedures, including manual cleaning of buffer tank interiors. 

Preparation of various equipment for processing, for Autoclave 

Weigh out chemical kits for Media and solutions. 

Operate Automated HCL distribution system, drum lifter for addition of chemicals to solution prep tanks, and Osmolality, pH, Conductivity, and Refractive Index meters. 

Perform manual bagging process for cell culture solution. 

In-process sampling for Media and EMO sampling.  

Monitor and control operation with computer control systems. 

Perform aseptic operations. 

Perform in-depth analysis of problems and contributes to continuous improvement opportunities. 

Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

WHO YOU ARE 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: 

 

Required: 

High school diploma, or GED is required. 

Completion of two years’ college science courses in (e.g. biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or microbiology) or a certificate from an accredited bio-technology academy preferred. 

Relevant bio-tech industry experience in some or all of the following is preferred, and may be considered in lieu of some or all of the educational requirements above: 

Preparation/transfer of Cell Culture and Purification solutions. Use of the Automated HCL Distribution system. Aseptic processing. Preparation/filtration of Media solutions such as (Ferrous Sulfate, Carbonate, Metals Panel, and Media). Preparation of Anti-Foam Emulsion and small-scale solutions. Basic knowledge of the theory and principles of the manufacturing operations in multiproduct manufacturing operation. Familiarity with cGMP’s and applicable agency regulations. 

Must have experience or computer literacy skills to learn new software applications, such as: Learning Management System (LMS), Document Control, Sentry DR/ CAPA System, Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.  

Read, write, speak, and comprehend English in order to understand written and verbal basic and technical information/instructions, SOP’s, BPR’s, etc. 

Good verbal and written communication skills. 

Work weekends, holidays and overtime as required. 

Acceptable attendance and performance. 

Able to work both independently/self-directed with minimal supervision and in a team environment. 

Must be able to work under BC III (Class 100,000) gowning conditions 

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., 40 lbs. overhead, and push/pull up to 400 lbs. with assistance. 

Must be able to withstand frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing (ladders), and sitting. 

Must be able to work in cold rooms. 

Must not have unusual sensitivity to typical lab chemicals or gloves (i.e. sanitizing agents), use required chemicals and wear protective clothing (PPE) and gowning as required. 

Must be able to differentiate color in order to monitor DCS computer and identify items using color-coded labels. 

Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist. 

 

This role includes alternating shift work every other week based on the following schedule:  

 

Week 1 

Days: Saturday Evening – Wednesday Morning (4 Nights) 

Hours: 6pm – 6:30am PST 

 

Week 2 

Days:  Sunday Evening – Wednesday Morning (3 Nights) 

Hours: 6pm – 6:30am PST 

 

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately $39.76 with a night-shift differential of $2.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
