Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining inspection logs and performing multiple analysis to ensure only the highest quality product is being produced. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collect product for analysis according to the MFI Internal Control Plan. Review quality data. Ensure all food safety control points (CP) and critical control points (CCP) are monitored and reviewed for compliance with any out of specification CP/CCP addressed. Report any deviations to the lead, supervisors or operators for correction. Ensure verification and calibration of equipment. Perform quality assurance SAP functions. Perform laboratory duties related to analysis, sampling, pre-operation and post-operation. Product monitor and review net weights on all products produced. Work autonomously with all departments. Evaluate physical attributes: code, shape of product, bake out, sanitizer concentration check. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any food safety/quality deviations and/or failures. Follow USDA, FSIS, FDA, CN, Customer and Company guidelines Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. #firstinpeople Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Ability to read and interpret SOP’s, instructions, short correspondences and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance. Ability to eat eggs to perform identity testing by using organoleptic skills (odor, taste, appearance). PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Strong attention to detail. Strong mechanical abilities. Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job. Ability to work indoors in a wet environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
