Summary
Non-Certified Sterile Processing Technician
The non-certified Sterile Processing Technician will rotate through a vigorous six-month training program in Sterile Processing gaining on hands experience of all aspects related to the department and functions in a Sterile Processing Tech Role. These areas will include decontamination, assembly, sterilizers, case carts, and tracking software systems. The non-certified SPD tech will work under the direct supervision of the Education Specialist and SPD Supervisor. It will be the expectation to successfully rotate through all areas and become acclimated to the roles and responsibilities as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. It will be the expectation for incumbents to advance into an SPD Tech role and be able to work independently once the six-month training has been completed successfully.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum of 6 months healthcare customer service experience required. Familiarity with and knowledge of medical supplies, familiarity with O.R. routines, infection control principles and regulatory practices required. Experience with an automated inventory control system preferred. Experience with an automated database for instrumentation preferred.
