The promise of genetic medicine has arrived, and Sarepta is at the forefront. We hold leadership positions in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMDs), and we currently have more than 40 programs in various stages of development in gene therapy, RNA and gene editing. In 2023, we launched our fourth therapy and the first ever gene therapy to treat Duchenne.

The Importance of the Role
 

Sarepta Therapeutics is seeking a motivated student with a desire to learn and develop their skills in the laboratory alongside a team dedicated to nonclinical research of gene therapies, RNA therapies, and gene editing therapies. This individual will have exposure to the biotechnology industry and the rapidly growing field of genetic therapies for rare diseases. This student will be exposed to the design of nonclinical studies and the molecular assays associated, like SimpleWestern and ddPCR. This student will use their experience to present a project at the conclusion of the internship with the guidance of their Manager. This student will also have access to training and development workshops and social activities with other Sarepta Therapeutics interns.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

Learn and operate various protein and nucleic acid methods

Learn various analysis techniques and how those are applied to our science

Learn and apply Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for laboratory documentation

Assist the process of study preparation

Assist the execution of various tissue processing techniques

Exposure to approved laboratory methods and study protocols

Mentorship opportunities from those with experience in their field of interest

Performs other related duties as assigned

More about You

Current Undergraduate student in a Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field with a 3.0 GPA or above

Some laboratory experience preferred

Ability to adhere to laboratory methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Experience with computer productivity software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)

Desire to learn and operate routine molecular assays

Desire to work in a high-functioning, collaborative team

Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and to make a difference in the lives of people through our innovative medicines

Program Timeline

This application is for a 12-week summer internship program that will start on May 19th and conclude on August 8th, 2025.

This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.

The targeted salary range for this position is $21 - $25 per hour depending upon years of education completed and nature of role.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
