Our Opportunity:
Chewy is currently recruiting for a Non-Inventory Area Manager, Procurement for our fulfillment center in Mount Juliet, TN. This role requires a candidate with the proven ability to assess inventory, negotiate pricing, and coordinate purchases. They will need to have the ability to keep pace with our fast growth in an extremely deadline-driven environment. This individual will be someone who likes dealing with ambiguity, change, and enjoys getting into the details to drive improvements every single day.

What You'll Do:

Primary on-site procurement contact that will provide procurement operations support for fulfillment center(s) through purchase of non-inventory products and base building services, vendor management, and procurement related projectsLead and Manage a team of 4+ non-inventory receivers across multiple shifts (days/nights)Responsible for managing over $30M+ yearly per FC managed through active purchasing of non-inventory goods and servicesManage capital expenditure projects through PO creation and vendor management; project valuations from $10k to over $15MComplete daily inventory counts of inventory in order to analyze and forecast future needBecome a subject matter expert in several areas of indirect spend from material specs to industry knowledge of services to accurately assess projects and needs of the businessPartner with internal customers, such as Finance Manager or GM, to positively influence spending decisions, while developing measures for tracking savings and other value-added metricsNegotiate with vendors and suppliers to provide value added cost savings to the overall business and create agreements and establish contracts as necessaryProblem solve multiple areas with high level of speed and precision; from supplier performance and delivery to internal team delivery of products to operationsComplete indirect inventory ordering through a P2P cloud-based systemHave thorough knowledge of indirect inventory shipment tracking, receipt, and confirmation of PO delivery to meet metric expectationsMaintain on site procurement files including JI’s for teamOwn flow, supply, and space management of non-inventory materials through active daily tracking against network standardsComplete project initiatives by working cross functionally with multiple departments to drive savings and overall service level improvementsActively partner with AP, suppliers, and internal teams as necessary to ensure timely payment to vendors and resolve payment issues as they arriveUnderstand safety responsibilities of direct team members to ensure safe working environmentComplete work in a warehouse environment where direct team is not centrally located requiring frequent walking or time away from desk in order to ensure team is effectively supportedComplete supply chain and network level projects or additional work as designated

What You'll Need:

Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Business or related field OR 5+ years in related field2+ years of procurement experience for a fulfillment center or related area1+ years of managing onsite team members1+ years in vendor management including knowledge of negotiation, and expediting of servicesAdvanced analytics and advanced Excel skills including knowledge of how to analyze data through formulas, pivot tables, etc.Strong organizational and multitasking skills while dealing with multiple high priority items simultaneously while shifting priorities as necessaryExceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective problem solving and team managementComfort assessing teams needs by adjusting own hours as necessary to meet with both day and night team membersHighest levels of integrity and ethicsExperience with Coupa, SAP, or other related P2P systems

High adaptability to constant changing environmentStrong ability to remain self-motivated and manage team without direct manager oversightBe comfortable working with and providing input to several levels of managementUnderstand and navigate through complexities of multiple manager requests or opinionsAbility to foresee potential issues and advocate for resolution while maintaining relationshipsSupply Chain Background (e.g. logistics, inventory turn management, forecasting, operations)Position may require up to 25% travel
