Summary This NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER position, is located in the Machine Shop of a Surface Maintenance Organization and is part of the CA 163 ATKW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-10, is to inspect turbine engine components, parts and assemblies by applying magnetic particle, liquid dyepenetrant, ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic and optical non-destructive inspection techniques. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to set up and operate test equipment, use test apparatus to apply tests to material or products, record readings, observe and record established reactions, and classify according to defined categories NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws. Experience classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies and recommending courses of action for items of equipment. Experience recommending engine components to be inspected and forwarding results to the appropriate authority.
