Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Nondestructive Testing Inspectors for projects located in Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity and the pay rate is up to $46/hour based on experience and skill level plus $120/per diem for travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Job Scope:       

Conduct inspections using the above-mentioned NDT methods to evaluate materials, welds, and structural components without causing damageEnsure materials and parts are free from surface defects like cracks, corrosion, or other irregularities that could affect performance or safetyApply liquid penetrant to detect surface-breaking defects like cracks or porosityInspect the components for indications left by the penetrant after cleaning, using the appropriate developer to reveal defectsPerform visual inspections of components, structures, and welds for any visible signs of damage, degradation, or non-compliance with design specificationsUse tools such as magnifying lenses, bore-scopes, and mirrors to inspect hard-to-reach areasUse magnetic fields and ferrous particles to detect surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materialsApply magnetic fields to the material and then use fine magnetic particles to highlight defects such as cracks or discontinuities in metal surfaces

 

Requirements ASNT SNT-TC-1A (2001 Edition or later) certification at Level II in Penetrant Testing (PT) and/or Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)Demonstrated competence in both general and specific examinations related to PT and MT methodsPassed written and practical examinations to demonstrate proficiency in the applicable NDT methods and the use of relevant NDT equipmentMinimum of 4 years of documented, continuous, and current inspection experience in PT and/or MT methods within the last 9 monthsPractical experience conducting NDT inspections on complex materials and components, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detailMust have passed a visual acuity exam using Jaeger 1 letters at a distance of not less than 12 inches within the last yearMust be Safety Harness and Respirator qualified and able to work in accordance with OSHA regulations specific to the shipbuilding industryAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safetyStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to undergo additional examinations and training as required Company Details
