JOB TITLE: Nortel SL-100 Telephone Switch Technician

WAGE DETERMINATION CLASSIFICATION: Telecommunications Mechanic II

JOB SUMMARY: Provides telecommunication maintenance, installation, provisioning of analog/digital phones and repair services to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA).

PRIMARY DUTIES: Reports to the Program Manager. Works alone or with a team. Provides switch-related reports, traffic studies, and telephone switch metric data upon request. Provides digital and analog telecommunication maintenance and repair services to include but not limited to telephone switches, transport systems, voicemail systems, and cable/fiber optic distribution systems. Installs telecommunications equipment and systems. Assists with the management of workload control. Performs telecommunications preventative maintenance inspections. Provides on-call/after normal duty hour support as required. Solves complex problems by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and removing/replacing telecommunications equipment and systems. Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians. Develops technical recommendations for modification or replacement of telecommunications equipment and systems. Maintains technological standards and investigates and promotes new telecommunications technologies for use by USAFA. The above mentioned duties require standing for long periods of time, the ability to climb ladders, and the ability to lift overhead 40lbs items.

SECONDARY DUTIES: Fulfills other work center duties as assigned. Provides support to other contract work centers in cases of manpower shortages or unexpected requirements.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: As assigned by the Program Manager.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience required as follows: Nortel SL-100 and/or CS-2100 telephone switch, Ciena Transport System, and Nortel Call Pilot voicemail system. Outside plant and/or cable experience a plus.

EDUCATION: An associate’s degree in electronic systems technology. Equivalent experience can be used as a substitution for this degree.

Certification: Comp Tia Security +

Clearence Required: US Secret

Position Type: Full Time

Salary: $35.48 and per SCA guidelines, you may be eligible for an additional $4.57 per hour for Health and Welfare, if you choose to waive company benefits.
