North America and International Logistics Operations Manager
Position Location: Hanson, KY Department: Global Logistics Reports to: Director of North America and International Logistics Job status: Hybrid FLSA: Exempt Job Summary The primary function of this position is to manage the selection of service providers, negotiating services for ocean carriage, drayage and 3PL services, and maintain relationships with existing and potential service providers. This includes assisting Carhartt colleagues and customers to enable successful importation/exportation processes. Additionally, this role will have oversight of a domestic transportation team that ensures timely and efficient transportation of products to customers and consumers using the most cost-effective mode possible. This includes the inbound flow of finished goods to distribution centers and 3PL’s and raw materials destined for manufacturing or storage locations. Representative Responsibilities + Coach, mentor and develop assigned NA/International team. + Manage selection and negotiations with service providers allowing Carhartt to maintain a competitive advantage. + Develop and manage relationships with current and prospective service providers. (Ocean, Air, Drayage, 3PL, etc.) + Lead, develop and manage cross-functional relationships with operations and 3PL Providers to ensure timely flow and compliance with trade regulations related to the transfer of shipments between vendors, DC’s and Manufacturing Plants. + Budget and KPI Leadership: Oversee team budget by ensuring accurate monthly/quarterly guidance and connect marketing actions/investments to brand leading outcomes/KPI's to drive continuous improvement and align with overall corporate performance. + Establish, implement and manage origin consolidation programs. + Oversee and maintain the standard operating procedures covering International Logistics compliance in accordance with the Carhartt compliance program. + Recommend/implement business best practices and operational changes within Carhartt as appropriate. + Provide decision support with day-to-day logistics matters: North America, Central America, EMEA, and APAC as required. + Manage all inbound support functions and allocates internal and external resources to create efficient capacity levels and traffic flow from carriers. + Management of Inbound carrier scheduling, reporting and issue resolution with Sourcing, Finance and other cross functional teams for all Carhartt DC’s and 3PL Partners. Required Education + Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, computer science, or related field of study or equivalent years of experience required. Required Skills & Experience + 5 year’s experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain including direct supervision of a team environment. + 3 years management experience in an International Logistics role + Experience with Ocean, Parcel, LTL and FTL shipping modes required + Experienced in use of Transportation and Yard Management Systems Preferred + Flexible, accurate and responsive to new/special projects assigned + Proficient in Microsoft Office + SAP operating experience preferred + WMI experience preferred + Outstanding organizational skills + Excellent attention to detail + Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills + Experienced in ocean contracting and rate negotiations. + Knowledge of on-boarding and maintaining 3PL services. + CES/CCS preferred + Advanced knowledge of import, export and foreign to foreign logistics processes.
