North America Communications Leader
As part of an industry-leading global Marketing & Communications team, you will lead internal and external communications strategy and execution for Aon’s North America region. You will help engage and inspire our colleagues and grow awareness and understanding externally of how Aon shapes decisions for the better – to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. Your impact as Head of Communications for North America Communications plays a critical role in shaping perceptions within Aon and outside our firm about how we help clients make better decisions and deliver positive outcomes for colleagues, clients and shareholders. As the communications leader for North America, you will lead a team focused on developing and delivering internal and external communications campaigns – in close collaboration with the CEO of North America and their regional leadership team– that advance the region’s commercial priorities and builds awareness of our firm, our leaders and our content and capabilities. You will also help advise our colleagues, communicate our values and expectations, change behavior where required and drive performance across the region. This role reports to the firm’s global head of communications and head of marketing for North America and serves on the global Communications Leadership Team. You will partner closely with the other regional communications leaders to align and strengthen how we serve the firm across our regions. They will ensure regional communications align with Aon’s brand strategy, messaging, and storytelling and work with leaders across the global Marketing & Communications team on shared priorities and programs. Job Responsibilities + Build Aon’s external share of voice across four key megatrends – Trade, Technology, Weather and Workforce – shaping client need across our Risk Capital and Human Capital capabilities. + Support commercial campaigns and milestones moments to help deliver on the firm’s growth goals. + Develop external stakeholder relationships, pitch and secure media coverage and help respond to stakeholder inquiries to advance the firm’s commercial objectives, manage issues and crises and influence positive perceptions of the firm’s reputation, thought leadership and social impact. + Design and implement overall communication strategies for a variety of initiatives to engage and inform colleagues; change behavior where required and drive business results. + Cultivate trusted partnerships with senior leaders to help influence communication style and effectiveness and generate results for the business. + Work with leaders to identify communication objectives, brainstorm creative solutions, and develop and implement communication plans using multiple channels. + Engage, empower, and drive a team of communications professionals. + Use a wide range of communication channels (email, webcasts, face-to-face, video, online, print, social media, etc.) to engage and advise all levels of colleagues regionally. + Lead communications content development for the region, carrying a significant writing workload, and guiding the work of others who may be assisting. + Measure effectiveness of communication activities and use feedback to improve future efforts. + Successfully lead and prioritize workload of all team members. Assist in goal setting for team and conduct annual performance analyses according to the firm’s guidelines. You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Experience/Credentials: + 12+ years of relevant strategic communication experience with a proven track record of innovation and results across external, internal and change communications. + Experience with developing and managing national and local media relationships for a publicly traded and global brand, preferably in the professional/financial services, consulting, or technology industry. + Track record of advising and building trusted relationships with senior leaders, including C-suite-level executives, to support internal and external communications strategies and achieve corporate objectives. + Proven experience of leading teams in complex, matrixed environments, and working successfully across corporate/business unit structures and across region(s) + Crisis and issues management experience preferred. + A bachelor's degree. Pay Transparency Laws: The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $175,000 to $215,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in Aon’s annual incentive plan in addition to base salary. The amount of any varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
