Job Purpose and Impact

The North American Process Development and Piloting Lead - Fermentation will provide strategic direction and operational guidance for the company's shared pilot facilities. You will lead a motivated team of professionals, oversee the operation and maintenance of the Eddyville, IA pilot assets, and enhance process development and piloting capabilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with business leaders, customers, and external technology partners to ensure alignment with business growth strategies.

Key Accountabilities Build a high-performing, highly engaged piloting team to create vision, strategic workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, organizational development, engagement, communication. Lead the development and piloting of new production processes to support new ingredient innovation including engineering of innovative process solutions, testing these innovations on pilot scale as well as producing pilot-scale amounts of food grade prototypes for evaluation by customers.Plan, prioritize and monitor all process development and piloting activities to ensure execution in alignment with process development and piloting capabilities and business priorities while collaborating with business leaders, customers, and external technology partners.Monitor operations and maintenance of the pilot plant assets to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintain the assets in optimum conditions.Accountable for all internal and external operating and regulatory procedures for the pilot facilities in alignment with corporate environment, health and safety and food safety, quality and regulatory programs, standards, and goals as well as government regulations.Prepare, administer, and control capital and operating budgets for the pilot assets in the assigned locations to ensure accountability for meeting and controlling operating expenses and established targets.Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching, and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Minimum of six years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in a technical field or PhD

Experience in the scale up of innovative manufacturing technology from bench scale to piloting to full manufacturing scale

Experience in project management, including capital projects of varying scope

Experience in budgeting and cost management

Three years of supervisory experience

Experience with fermentation
