Principal responsibilities

Impact on the Business

Lead by example and have practical experience of building services and technical architecture to deliver North Star IT solutions.Demonstrate influence through solution design or code to large parts of an organization.Provide leadership and contribution for the North Star engineering practices and Technology strategy.Represent North Star Technical Product and Engineering across the broader WPB and Technology community in relation to Engineering quality, efficiency and system resiliency.Assist Head of Engineering North Star to build a great engineering team that delivers excellent results to difficult problems.Adopt new technologies, like Gen AI, to drive the Engineering or Platform evolution.

Stakeholders – Internal and External

Creates and manages strong and trusted working relationship inside and outside of WPB through strong relationships within the broader HSBC group.Gain the trust of Engineers and Business.Manage an effective relationship with partners and third-party vendor to ensure successful uptime.Join the Internal and external Engineering communities, to influence a broad range of the Engineers.

Leadership Teamwork

Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire a diverse team in a dynamic, rapidly changing engineering environment.conflicts.Ability to promote Innersource culture and provide feedback to engineers continuously and professionally.Ability to mentor and coach Engineers for career progression, skill advancement and achieving project objectives.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate vision and strategy to the team.Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Operational Effectiveness Control

Ensure technology goals are identified, communicated, documented, agreed and delivered in the most cost-effective manner possible.Identifying key risks, issues and interdependencies and provide appropriate mitigation strategies. Supporting audit / independent programme assessments as requiredEnsure HSBC is not put at any operational or reputational risk.
