Novice Teacher/Mentoring Specialist II (2025-2026 School Year)
PULASKI COUNTY SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT CERTIFIED JOB CLASSIFICATION POSITION TITLE: NOVICE TEACHER/MENTORING SPECIALIST II QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Arkansas Educator’s License + Master’s Degree + Five years of successful Teaching Experience + Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks + Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources/Director of Human Resources JOB GOALS: Coordinate district-level mentoring for all novice teachers as required by State and District mandate. Collect pertinent data and prepare reports as required by the State, coordinate and provide training for novice teachers. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: + Exhibit professionalism that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to collaborate well with adult learners, administrators, and the community at large. + Exhibit a high level of confidentiality as it relates to ethics and professionalism + Liaison for the District’s Novice Teacher Program + Facilitate the state grant for the Novice Teacher Program + Develop and maintain a relationship with teacher training, teacher placement agencies, and the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) + Assist with the placement of student observations/internship programs and other activities involving other educational agencies + Assist with the District’s recruitment and retention efforts of instructional personnel + Assist novice teachers with attaining a standard Arkansas Educator’s License + Support novice teachers with state testing requirements and professional development requirements needed for licensure. + Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development, program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, assessment and diagnosis, and assist with selection of research-based materials for novice teachers. + Analyze data and determine a plan of support for novice teachers + Maintain current knowledge of effective practices in the area of research-based curricula, instruction and assessment practices for the purpose of professional development + Provide high-quality, job-embedded professional development for novice teachers and other instructional stakeholders + Must have reliable transportation to enable travel within the District to meet the needs of novice teachers and instructional stakeholders. + Know Board of Education policies, District and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to the same + Implement the PCSSD Desegregation plan + Perform other duties as assigned TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule (Placement depends upon education and experience.)Length of Contract: 230 days per year Eligible for Benefits: YES It is the policy of PCSSD to provide equal opportunities without regard to age, race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability or veterans in its educational programs and activities, educational services, financial aid and employment.
