Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Location: Trinity Health Oakland, Pontiac, MI

Minimum rate of pay: $57.72/hour, PLUS DailyPAY

Position Purpose

Under the administrative and technical supervision of a physician, performs medical examinations, selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and other special procedures to assist in the delivery of primary and/or specialty medical services to patients.

Shifts Available: 12 hours, Nights

Status available: Full-time, 36 hours per week, rotating weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant/ with a Master of Science degree in a health related field including six (6) to twelve (12) months of clinical internship.Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum Masters of Science in Nursing including 6-12 months of clinical internship.

Licensure

Current license to practice: as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Michigan OR Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan.Certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.Must be approved for clinical privileges through the Trinity AHP Credentialing Committee.

Experience

At least one year of clinical working experience as a P.A./N.P. Neuroscience preferred, in order to exercise independent judgement to monitor and respond to changes in patient conditionsExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients, family members and the health care team.

What you will do:

Conducts and performs patient assessments, histories and physicals, necessary testing, follow up calls, consults and discharge planning. Evaluates physical signs, symptoms and medical history to assess patient's physical condition.Performs appropriate primary and/or specialty diagnostic medical procedures. Assists attending physician as needed.Orders and interprets laboratory tests, radiological tests and other diagnostic tests.Monitors and performs treatments and medications prescribed by physicians.Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.Formulates treatment and therapeutic plans as well as discharge plans for hospitalized patients with the attending physician. Dictates summaries as necessary.Instructs and counsels patients and families in matters pertaining to their physical and mental health, expectations and recovery.  Provides education to healthcare professionals and community as requested.Prepares and documents discharge summaries, medication reconciliation and discharge planning.Assumes responsibility for professional growth by attending specialty meetings, continuing education, conferences, procedural and device in-services and unit education offerings. Participates in special projects and committee functions as necessary.Provides in-house and emergency call coverage as required.Participates in daily rounds on all patients and participates in multi-disciplinary rounds.Promotes and maintains a professional relationship with physicians, patients, family, and other hospital staff.Participates in department quality initiatives and department meetings.Participates in recruiting for clinical trials.(For Neuroendovascular): Acts as first and second surgical assistant in performing specific procedures during neuroendovascular and/or related procedures.
