**Job Description:**
Highland Hospital is seeking a Full Time Outpatient / Surgical Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (with first assist) to join its team. Candidates for this role will work a Monday - Friday, Day shift. No weekends or holidays required.
Some duties include but are not limited to:
**Ambulatory Clinic**
History & Physicals for patients seeking weight management services
+ Obtains detailed, accurate medical histories (including medication reconciliation)
+ Performs thorough and comprehensive physical examinations
+ Orders required consultations, lab tests, and imaging required for medical clearance for bariatric surgery
Medical Follow-up
+ Conducts evaluation and management professional services for weight management patients within scope of practice and delineation of privileges
+ Counsels and educates patients within scope of practice on weight management strategies (nutrition, physical activity, & behavior health)
Post-operative Care
+ Conducts evaluation and management professional services for post-operative patients within scope of practice and delineation of privileges
+ Assists with the completion of paperwork required for patient care (i.e. disability paperwork)
Medical supervision for weight management programming
+ Takes medical history, orders laboratory testing, and performs physical exams on patients as needed prior to, during, and after patient participation in weight management programming.
+ Assesses risks to participants from dramatic changes in dietary intake and manages those risks by making ongoing medication adjustments and communicating with primary care physicians and specialist physicians as needed.
+ Participates in periodic patient care, team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
General
+ Communicates with patients via telephone and MyChart in response to clinical questions
+ Openly communicates with attending, consultant, fellow, & resident physicians; and other members of the health care team
+ Provides accurate and concise documentation of patient care provided
Serves as a resource to other staff regarding their communication to patients regarding clinical matters within their scope of practice and capability
**Salary Range:**
$98,000.00 - $126,235.00 annually

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._

**Job Requirements:**
1. Education: Fulfilled the requirements to be a licensed PA or NP in NYS.
2. Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in Surgical setting preferred, however new graduates are encouraged to apply as well. Must have excellent proven communication abilities with all levels of staff including physicians, nurses, technicians, housekeeping, administrative and peers.
3. License/Certification Required: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the NY State Board of Medicine. NP’s must have First Assist Certification in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required.
