You as a NPD Engineer will support the execution of key R&D NPD projects/programs through collaboration with various functional groups from concept through to launch. Execute NPD activities through the full design process from rapid design iteration, usability and prototyping with a focus on design for manufacturability and process.
About the role:
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in discussions to resolve technical / scientific challenges to support new product development of Ostomy Care medical devices
Collaborate across functions to identify practical and theoretical solutions.
Support Research and Development project activities within a Design Control Framework in accordance with ISO 13485 & 21CFR820 Quality Systems for Medical Devices.
Write technical documents to support Design Control and regulatory submission.
Contribute to Risk Management activities and other technical assessments.
Identifying & generating new Intellectual Property (IP)
Use of 3D models & assembly CAD/CAM software (Solidworks & AutoCad).
Support the development of products and rapid design iteration through prototyping and / or other rapid simulation techniques.
Generate data to support theories and designs.
Provide technical input to support the design control process, including contributing to / authoring design history file (DHF) documentation and material specifications.
Contribute to design for manufacturing and design for assembly discussions.
Maintain overall expertise by keeping updated on engineering advancements through publications, patents, university / industrial contacts and vendor discussions.
Promote and develop good working relationships within a multidisciplinary team

Skills & Experience:
Experience of relevant materials and processes desirable (flexible films/fabrics/injection molded parts/electro-mechanical enclosures & assemblies/bonding techniques etc.)
Experience of developing and applying statistical sampling plans during development
projects is desirable
Demonstrable industrial experience with knowledge of the application of the design and development and testing of medical devices.
Demonstrable experience in an industrial engineering discipline with knowledge of mechanical / design engineering is essential.
Experience in a R&D medical devices environment and design control is required.
Experience of Process Validation activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ activities) is desirable
Problem solver: Assess situations & conflicts to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
Understand ethical behaviour and business practices
Qualifications/Education:
Degree in Engineering (or equivalent), preferably Design or Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrated experience in application of CAD packages and Drawing Management
Systems is required: experience of AutoCAD, Solidworks
Demonstrated practical hands-on engineering skills to develop prototypes, jigs and
fixtures
Dimensions: Team This role does not have any direct reports
Principal Contacts & Purpose of Contact
Internal – Lab and V&V teams for test method development, process development for DFM and user centered design team for VOC and usability
External – minimal interaction with vendors for prototyping where applicable
Languages
Speaking: Yes English
Writing/Reading: Yes English
Working Conditions: This is a hybrid role with an expectation to be on site at CTEC Deeside to develop prototypes and run experiments as and when required.
Travel Requirements
Position may involve travel up to 15% of the time, mostly within Europe but overseas travel is expected. Most trips will include overnight travel
