As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a **NPI Engineering Leader** in Waterloo. **Position Summary** The NPI Engineering Leader is a mid-level engineering position with hands-on, direct product oversight in our ASC/NRE group as well as supervisory responsibilities. In addition to providing functional direction, technical guidance, coordination, and a healthy and productive work environment for members of a team, the incumbent will be expected to also perform project engineering tasks (e.g. development and execution of the NPI project plan). **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** • Responsible for the introduction of new, custom-designed hardware products into Production. • As a member of New Product Introduction (NPI) team, works with Engineering and Operations groups to execute NPI deliverables. • Provides leadership in defining/communicating Operations’ requirements early in the product development cycle and manages the Manufacturing Strategy Document throughout development. • Reviews designs and provides feedback for Design for Manufacturability/Testability. • Coordinates NPI activities such as process and test development, new supplier qualification, fixturing and manufacturing documentation, infrastructure/facility changes, etc. • Manages the regular monitoring and reporting to objectives, schedule, and key milestones. • Determines process and test requirements for new products and measures product performance to those requirements. • Develops action plans to mitigate high risks due to new processes, technologies, and materials. • Performs typical manufacturing engineering activities on NPI and released products such as process development, authoring work instructions, designing fixtures, generating ECOs, etc. • Assists Manufacturing and Engineering in engineering/proto, and low-rate production builds. • Provides some level of sustaining support and continuous improvement/manufacturability for all production products and manufacturing processes. • Identifies opportunities to make products more manufacturable, increases yields, ensures highest quality, and reduces cost and reworks. **Experience / Education** + Bachelor’s degree or Advanced College Diploma in a relevant Engineering Technology discipline (Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Physics). + Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience related to new product introduction in an electronics manufacturing environment. + Understanding and experience in evaluating product quality and producing quantitative analysis for new products. + Understanding process development as it relates to new product introduction. + Training and/or equivalent experience with computer tools and advanced laboratory test equipment (vision systems, optical metrology, electronics). + Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with multi-disciplinary groups. + Experience in Project Management is an asset **Job Complexity** + The role involves a high level of technical complexity, requiring a deep understanding of machine vision, image sensors, frame grabbers, and associated software. + Detailed knowledge of relevant computer software tools in field of specialization. + Detailed knowledge of specialized equipment. **Supervision** This role is a hands-on NPI Engineering role, with possible supervisory responsibilities.
