NPI Sustaining Engineer

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a NPI Sustaining Engineer.

What you’ll do:

Main Goal:
Follows the production cycle and works with marketing, design and manufacturing to ensure that the product meets the needs of customer and meets the product specifications. Provides proactive and reactive support for the product line to ensure the products continue being manufactured without interruption. Supports development and production launches of new products, lines transfers and/or changes to existing products.

Job Responsibilities and Authorities:
1    Contribute to achieve the High Five metrics of the focus factory.
2    Participate on Tier meetings related to the focus factory and works with the team for permanente and temporal changes implementations.
3    Provide sustaining line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware.
4    Support “Cost Out” activities from an engineering and material perspective.
5    Responsible for managing balanced scorecard for metrics related to implementation of changes.
6    Supports all NPIs gates and sub-processes reviews. Provide required information and participate in projects pulsing for NPD programs.
7    Updates and manages procedures related to permanent changes and temporal changes (MCOs and Deviations)
8    Leads Engineering Changes Requests and implementation of ECO/MCOs.
9    Provide support to outside design resources when appropriate (e.g. PCB layout, software development, test laboratories).
10    Provide support to outside suppliers (part substitutions, test methodology, create and maintain documentation for manufacturing).
11    Recommends component selection and validation according to internal procedures.                 
12    Participates on all ECO meetings with design center and internal meetings for MCO/Deviation implementation.
                                                            
EHS Responsibilities: 
- Separate hazardous waste from the common waste. 
- Place hazardous waste (gloves, rags, etc.) in assigned containers.
- Keep clean the work área contaminant free.
- Do not waste water. 
- Report any activity that may jeopardize my safety and the environment. 
- Identify and properly dispose all the chemicals that may contaminate the environment.
- Ensure the correct container for the disposal of hazardous waste (identified containers and containers to prevent spills).
- Report the entry of new Chemicals required for Maintenance purposes due to mantain a record updated and assure the compliance of the correct handling of them.
- Contain oil spills and repair as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education level required: 
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Electronics or Mechanical (or similar).

Years and area of experience required:
2-3 years of experience in a similar position, Electronic manufactuing environment a plus.
Experience/knowledge with manufacturing processes, PFEMA, process flow, APQP, etc.

Competencies required:
Strong knowledge in IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/21 and basic knowledge of IATF-16949.
 

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanishleadershil skillsproactivestrong organization and analytical thinker.
