We offer competitive compensation and an extraordinary benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401K with company matching, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, three weeks paid time off, and more. **Position Overview:** Koniag Data Solutions is seeking a Fulltime Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with IV competency in support of occupational and ambulatory health care services for US Customs and Border Protection Advanced Training Center located at 440 Koonce Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. **Work Hours: Services are to be provided between the hours of M-F 0600-1800. Must have flexibility typically is 8am to 5pm.** **Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:** + Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) + Respond to emergency medical calls to render assistance to either treat and/or arrange for advance care to a medical facility. Maintains radio contact with the receiving medical facility and/or medical director staff during EMS to provide victim information and receive medical guidance and direction. + Operate and maintain site medical treatment rooms for the purpose of evaluation and care of sick and injured persons, including those requiring acute care, first aid or palliative treatment, and/or occupational specialties. + Evaluate individuals and provide appropriate medical treatment for illness or injuries within WV scope of service. + Perform medical evaluations of individuals who have been absent from training for a specified period of time due to illness, injury, or other reasons to ensure they are physically and/or emotionally fit to return to training based on the real and potential health hazards encountered in the training environment. + Identify the injury, illness or condition and render appropriate medical care to alleviate symptoms or suffering and stabilize emergency patients prior to sending to a medical facility. + Independently perform EMT-specific duties as outlined in the State of West Virginia State Protocols, IAW State of West Virginia EMS Rules to include, but not limited to: + Administering medications within scope + Providing electrical defibrillation + Performing airway management techniques + Obtaining vascular access + Assessing the level of consciousness of a patient + Monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, rhythm, and strength to determine adequacy of patient’s circulation. + Inspects pupils and determines if they are reactive, equal, dilated, constricted, and accommodating. + Determines patient’s oral or axillary body temperature utilizing an oral thermometer. + Inspecting patient’s body surface to determine abnormal color, deformity, symmetry, swelling, wounds, fluids, or foreign substances/materials. + Addressing external wounds to control bleeding by applying direct pressure, elevating extremity, applying tourniquet, and dressing and bandaging the wound. + Examines patients and identifies signs and symptoms of internal bleeding, open or closed abdominal injury or shock and renders emergency care. + Identifying and treating patients with signs and symptoms of hyperthermia, hypothermia, frost bite, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, with emergency care and treatment. + Identifying and treating traumatic injuries such as fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injury, sucking chest wound, burn, shock and other conditions with appropriate life support medical treatment. + Identifying medical conditions from written or verbal description and selecting appropriate medical life support treatment. + Transmitting patient’s vital signs and condition and receiving direction from medical facility personnel by radio. + Maintain records and prepares reports of activities. + Attend seminars, workshops, continuing education courses and in-house training sessions to maintain licensure and remain current on the latest methods, techniques, and procedures regarding emergency medical services. + Inspect and maintain emergency equipment to ensure proper operating condition. + Maintain inventory of medical supplies - policies and procedures and replenishes as necessary and disinfects units after runs. + Instruct various groups in basic first aid techniques and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, conducts blood pressure clinics, and gives presentations on EMS services and tours of facilities. + May serve as Education/Training Coordinator/Training Officer for the department. + May serve as an Instructor/Coordinator, includes presenting training sessions and coordinating in-service educational classes for other emergency services personnel. + Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks at base facility and grounds, including cleaning the base, laundering linens, and washing and cleaning ambulances. + Assist with various community functions as a representative of the department. + Perform other duties, as assigned. **Qualifications include:** + BLS (Must obtain before start date if not currently active) + Minimum of 3 Peer References that can attest to your clinical ability within the past 2 years. + 2 recent years of clinical experience + Meets with project management, and company Medical Director or designate to discuss quality of patient care, review policies, procedures, outcomes reports, and records. + Completes all medical record documentation and follow-up services prior to end of shift. + Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate responsive measures. + Assist in patient education regarding conditions and prescribed procedures. + Report site-specific problems to the Nurse Manager (e.g., staffing difficulties, supply issues, environment of care hazards, onsite operational emergencies, etc.) in a timely manner. + Monitor First aid kits across base/Manage 42 AED devices. + Wet bulb monitoring + Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested. + U.S. citizenship + Successfully pass a law enforcement and financial background check for the purpose of obtaining a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Public Trust). + All applicants for ambulance positions must be at least 21 years old and have a clean driving record. **NREMTs working on the CBP contract must meet the following physical fitness requirements to perform their jobs:** + Physical + Lift and Carry: Must be able to lift a specified amount of weight (125 -175 mannequin) onto a stretcher, strap and secure the weight, and load into an ambulance. + Carry 30 (pound backpack). + Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to include an air purifying respirator, for extended periods of time. + Agility + Must be able to: + Kneel, bend down, and twist your body in order to get to the afflicted individual. + Move quickly through small areas and around obstacles. + Manual Dexterity + Must possess the ability to move the hand and fingers in coordinated, exact movements to administer aid to patients safely and effectively. Use of a variety of medical instruments that may, depending upon the illness or injury, require great precision to prevent further injury. + Vision + Good vision, including the ability to discriminate one color from another, is critical. A person who sees normally with the help of glasses or contact lenses may still qualify. + Language Skills: + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Superior ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Interpret statistical analysis reports and convey analysis to clinic personnel. Must possess ability to speak and understand English at college graduate level or higher. **Mathematical Skills:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. **Reasoning Ability:** Superior ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Electronic Health Record Computer Skills:** Intermediate computer skills are essential in the use of an electronic medical record when available. **Working Environment & Conditions:** This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
