Basic Job Functions: The Forklift Operator is primarily responsible for all aspects of safe operations of the forklift around Rail Spike finishing area, Scale area, various Shop areas, and Storage Accumulation areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring spike hoppers are filled properly and rotated from the production line, weighed and documented, staged in predetermined locations, while hoppers are filling - help quality inspector remove nonconforming spikes from the production line, ensure equipment is functioning properly, and must attain product knowledge for the purposes of inspection and disposition. Critical to this role is effectively communicating with the quality inspector, production operators, shipping team, and quality supervisor. Other job functions include operation of forging equipment, operation of overhead cranes, operation of the locomotive, the ability to troubleshoot area equipment to improve spike quality, the ability to help perform maintenance on area equipment, housekeeping, and other duties assigned. Successful completion of Crane/Mobile equipment physical will be required.
