JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Nuclear Auxiliary Operator performs operations, routine tests, incidental maintenance, electrical switching, and other activities on equipment necessary to ensure continuity of power generation in accordance with administrative, procedural, and regulatory requirements. Nuclear Auxiliary Operators perform periodic inspections of assigned equipment and spaces to identify problems, defects, and failures which degrade plant integrity and reliability. Nuclear Auxiliary Operators maintain familiarity with the conditions and limitations of equipment operation, out of specification conditions, logs, and surveillances.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular and reliable attendance in support of a 12 hour rotating shift schedule, including working weekends, holidays, or call-ins to maintain NRC minimum staffing requirements for position. Monitor, inspect and adjust equipment for proper operation. Collect and trend equipment and system operating parameters. Identify equipment problems, defects, and failures which degrade plant integrity and reliability. Analyze component and system performance trends to identify challenges to its operation. Report any abnormal plant or equipment conditions to the control room and take appropriate action to mitigate the consequences. Perform routine servicing of equipment including lubrication, wiping of residual oil and ensure fluid leakage is properly contained and managed. Recommend changes in plant procedures, personnel, operation, and equipment status to maximize plant and personnel efficiency. Perform technical reviews of procedures and other documents. Utilize conservative decision making principles and human performance behaviors. Utilize the station's corrective action programs to address issues and opportunities for improvement. Assist other site departments with test specifications and performance. Participate in training and personnel development opportunities. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization. Perform the initial actions required in response to an off-normal condition and perform follow up actions as directed. Perform tasks related to natural emergency response, including operation of debris removal equipment. As a member of the site Fire Brigade, perform firefighting, rescue and chemical spill response activities. All other duties as assigned.

Must be able to walk long distances and be on feet for several hours at a time in outdoor and industrial environments (such as areas with high heat and humidity); Must be able to perform routine activities associated with an industrial environment, such as Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding; wearing a body harness; bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, kneeling, and working in tight spaces; lifting, pushing, pulling, /carrying up to 50lbs. Must be able to wear a respirator. Must be able to be a Radiation Worker Applicant will be required to successfully complete the following to be considered for the position: EEI - Plant Operations System Selection (POSS) test Physical examinations to support operator, respirator, and fire brigade qualification Requisites to obtain unescorted access to the power plant, which include psychological examination, drug screen and security background check.
