is looking for a Computer Science/Engineering Intern to join the Software Testing Team as an Intern and support our team as we work on complex nuclear engineering software testing, software development, training, performance, and delivery of complex products and services.
Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is looking to hire a Software and Testing Intern for their Cranberry Woods headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Major Focus of Position:
As an Intern you will be introduced to our Fuel Engineering Technologies Team and our Software Testing Team in particular. The 3-month project will support our nuclear design software testing team. You can expect to be assigned a mentor who will guide you through a project where you will have the opportunity to write software and automate a testing activity, or update a regression test matrix, or execute a software test plan, or related task. You will document your activity as a deliverable for the internship activity.
Software development and testing is a critical activity to providing quality products to our internal and external customers. Software testers work closely with the software development and engineering users to deploy applications and resolve issues.
Required Skills:
Experience with Microsoft office tools: Word, Excel Effective English communications skills, written and oral Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentDesired Skills:
Knowledge and experience with the application of the nuclear design software to the analysis of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWRs) plant types, fuel types, and operational strategies Developing and providing technical presentations Aptitude to work with little guidance and oversight Team leadership experience Highly organized and task focused Motivated to self-learn and develop Familiarity with languages, such as Fortran 95/2003, C/C++, Java, Python Familiarity with execution of engineering calculations on the Linux platformResponsibilities may Include:
Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor others Review of software requirements to ensure testability Execution of Test Plans, review and analysis of test results and documentation of test results and conclusions Development of tests to verify code modifications for corrections and minor enhancements Performance of software verification and validation activities Perform a software testing automation activity Perform a revision to a regression test matrix Documentation of testing activities
Education Requirements:
Intern who is pursuing a 4-Year Degree or equivalent in one or more of the following disciplines: Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer ScienceMinimum GPA of 3.0 strongly preferred.
Completion of Sophomore year of college
Must be able to work a minimum of 8 weeks; 10 plus weeks preferred.
US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
